Side Table Makeover

There’s something so interesting about the modification of seasons, when the air gets a bit cooler as well as all of us begin to feel something new coming on. everybody focuses on a huge ‘spring clean’, however this year, why not believe a bit about autumn nesting?

Think about it: vigorous days as well as cosy nights, sweatshirts as well as leaf raking as well as a fresh beginning. I believe it’s the best time to try something new at home. Why not freshen an old piece of furniture with paint?

Here’s a job I tried recently…

I made over a pair of nightstands. You may keep in mind them from the story on my apartment or condo in June 2009 (watch the video tour!). I wished to tone them down a little, so I utilized some leftover Farrow & sphere paint as well as some basic as well as sophisticated new hardware from Lee Valley Tools. You must inspect them out by the way, they have so lots of elegant choices at great, fantastic prices! I utilized this airplane to scrape down the drawer edges a little. If a drawer has been painted as well lots of times it will stick. A airplane is a fantastic method to keep them moving smoothly.

Here’s the paint as well as hardware. The colour is called Light gray No. 17, however it has a great deal of brown in it, so its a lot more of a warm putty than grey. The traditional brass pulls from Lee Valley are the best touch to make these nightstands look handsome as well as refined.

Of course, I had to fill the holes from the old hardware with polyfiller as well as sand them smooth. then I determined as well as drilled holes for the new pulls.

Here is something to keep in mind: don’t let paint puddle in the corners, particularly around drawers. This will only make the drawers stick as well as drive you crazy when it’s hardened. keep an eye out for bit puddles when painting as well as dab them away.

And right here they are! just a couple of coats of paint as well as some new handles as well as they look refreshed as well as prepared for fall. Gone is the slick white paint as well as cool hardware — a a lot more subtle, ageless color with downplayed details totally transformed them. Perfect!

I can’t wait to tons them up with books as well as a water glass as well as top them with charming lamps!
